Instance List Entry Options¶
Each instance in the list has options which can be configured by clicking

The available options differ depending on whether the instance being edited is the controller itself or a managed instance.
Warning
Many of these options are set automatically when registering an instance. Changing the options may break connectivity to the instance or its registration.
- Name
The name of this instance as it appears in Netgate Nexus. If the device hostname changes, this can be updated manually to match, or to supply name which is shorter or easier to identify.
- Service Address and Port
List of addresses and ports through which this instance can be reached.
Typically, this is handled automatically and left at its default value.
- Device Type
The operating system of this device, e.g.
pfSenseorTNSR.Typically, this is handled automatically and left at its default value.
- Device Public Key
The public key for managing this device.
Typically, this is handled automatically and left at its default value.
- Authentication Type
The method Netgate Nexus uses to authenticate this device.
Typically, this is handled automatically and left at its default value.
- VPN Public Key
The public key corresponding to the VPN connection for this instance.
Typically, this is handled automatically and left at its default value.
- VPN Tunnel Address
A specific address for this instance to use when communicating inside the internal Netgate Nexus management VPN.
Typically, this is handled automatically and left at its default value.
- VPN IPv4/IPv6 Service Address and Port
Specific addresses for this instance to use when establishing the internal Netgate Nexus management VPN.
Typically, this is handled automatically and left at its default value.
- Device Tags
A list of tags assigned to this device.
