Updating the Platform Firmware

Warning

The update procedure for SBL is still under development.

  1. Download the firmware file for the Netgate 5200 from the Netgate Store, e.g. FwuImage.bin

  2. Copy the firmware file to a USB memstick formatted as DOS (FAT)

  3. Insert the memstick into the top USB port on front the Netgate 5200

  4. Connect to the Serial Console with USB or with RJ45

  5. Boot or reboot the Netgate 5200

  6. Wait for the firmware prompt to appear

  7. Press F7 or DEL to enter the boot manager menu

  8. Use the up/down arrow keys to highlight UEFI Shell

  9. Press Enter to boot into the UEFI Shell

  10. Press Esc when prompted to cancel the automatic UEFI Shell boot script

  11. Enter fwupdate at the prompt and press Enter

  12. Follow the output as the update completes

  13. Power off the device after the update completes

  14. Remove the USB memstick

  15. Power on the device and allow it to boot

Tip

After updating, a good practice is to check and confirm the correct boot order.
