Factory Reset Procedure

This procedure performs a factory reset using the hardware button on the APU.

  1. Remove power from the device.

  2. Gently insert a paper clip or similar tool into the small hole on the front of the device and hold it in place.

The button depresses slightly. There is tactile feedback (a “click”) when engaged successfully.

  3. While keeping the button depressed, apply power to the device.

  4. Keep the button depressed for about 30 seconds until the kernel begins to load and the device plays the reset tones from its internal speaker.

The reset tones are a distinctive falling and then rising set of sounds. On a normal boot there are 5 tones rising in sequence, for example “1 2 3 4 5”. When the reset occurs, the tones are “5 4 3 2 1 (pause) 1 2 3 4 5”.

  5. After the tones indicate a successful reset, unplug the device then plug it back in.

When the device boots again, it will be at its factory default settings and accessible from the LAN at https://192.168.1.1.

If this procedure fails, connect to the console and perform a factory reset there.
