Connecting to the Console

There are times you may want to access the console, perhaps you have accidentally locked yourself out of SSH or you may want to assign a new password.

Note

SSH is normally used to connect to the CentOS command line. SSH is enabled on port 22 on the default install with the login credentials listed below.

Logging In

At the first display enter root at the login prompt and press Enter

CentOS Linux (Core)
Kernal 3.10.0-123.e17.x86_64 on an x86_64

Localhost login:

Enter password as the default password at the prompt and press Enter. You now have root access.
